Clinical background
What it measures
The Mini-SPIN uses the three SPIN items with the greatest discriminative power — fear of embarrassment, avoiding being the centre of attention, and fear of looking stupid.
How it is scored
Three items scored 0–4 give a total of 0–12. A cut-point of 6 showed roughly 89% sensitivity and 90% specificity for generalized social anxiety disorder (Connor et al., 2001).
