What it measures
The OCI-R measures distress from obsessive-compulsive symptoms across six domains: washing, checking, ordering, obsessing, hoarding and neutralizing.
How it is scored
Eighteen items scored 0–4 give a total of 0–72. A cut-point of 21 discriminates OCD patients from non-patients (Foa et al., 2002). Higher scores indicate greater distress, not necessarily greater severity of the underlying disorder.
